New dispatch centre for Ennis
After a lot of work and effort our new dispatch centre went in to operation last week. This means that our customers will be able to depend upon a product irrespective of weather or sea conditions. It also means we will be able to offer a wider variety of seafood. While supporting more local coastal marine communities and farms.
What has changed
The Ennis dispatch centre offers:
- Convenient location for producers.
- A dedicated packing centre.
- Depuration facilities to purify up to 2 tonne of product a week.
- Chilled and frozen storage facilities.
- Central distribution.
New Dispatch Centre Products
Our new dispatch centre will mean we will be offering:
- Cultivated oysters from our own farm.
- Cultivated special oysters from Waterford.
- Native oysters when in season.
- Mussels for the south west of Ireland.
- Lobsters from Achill Island when in season.
Dispatch Centre location
Our new dispatch centre is located in Ennis, County Clare. We have worked hard to find the best location. The new location will allow us to deliver our products to our customers in the best condition.
Freshness and food safety is central to what we are doing in Achill Oysters. The new dispatch centre is close to our primary producers. It will act as a central hub for producers throughout the west coast of Ireland. We are within easy reach of our primary markets in Dublin, Galway and Limerick. We are also close to distribution hubs for our overseas customers.
Employment boost
It is important to us to give back to our communities. The new dispatch centre will give employment to upwards of ten new roles. These new roles will be in the area of:
- Food safety.
- Back office support.
- Food distribution.
- Animal husbandry.
